Enhancing dining for people living with dementia
Mealtimes are often done poorly in residential aged care with perfunctory delivery of food and inappropriate assistance for people with disability.
This training is a half day, focusing on enhancing the mealtime experience of people living with dementia.

Purpose
This workshop is designed to increase the skills and understanding of aged care staff so that they may provide a rich and satisfying dining experience that enhances wellbeing and delivers good nutrition to people living with dementia.

- Identify factors that affect a dining experience
- Arrange a dining area to facilitate a quality dining experience
- Serve at table in an appropriate manner
- Interact with people during their dining so as to enhance the social experience – provide assistance with respect and care
- Understand the influence of cultural preferences in dining
- Use finger food appropriately for people with disabilities
